Hello, world! Welcome to the xuni.com Substack. I am Riley, the son of the amazing founder Maddee. We are a small, dynamic website development company that has created, designed, and maintained author websites since 1998. I have been on board for close to 10 years and am looking forward to many more years of making authors look great online!
You are likely already one of our wonderful clients if you are reading this… thank you for being here! We are aiming to post at the beginning of every month with content like best website practices and design tips for promotional materials. We will also be featuring a selection of both new and “old” websites from our client list, so look out for your own site to be in the spotlight.
If you are not one of our clients, welcome! We are a mother-son duo who specialize in customized WordPress sites for writers in all genres, for both debut authors and those with dozens of books. We also support branding through print and online ads, social media design, custom newsletters and other promotional materials. While we are in the business of creating functional beauty, we are best known for our individualized attention to clients and details, along with amazing responsiveness. Riley’s Tech Talk
This section is for me to chat about things in the industry from website design tricks and newsletter tips to AI’s influence and beyond. I’ll also tackle any common questions that might come up in the comments and maybe even have a few FAQs with people in the industry.

Believe it or not, my mom started creating websites for authors when I was only three years old, and we have some clients who have been with xuni for more than 25 years. How crazy is that!? We truly feel honored that so many authors have put their faith in us over the years.

Like Riley said, I’ve been doing this incredibly fun work for a long, long time! Riley joined me in 2018 and since then, thanks to his millennial amazingness 😀, we have become more tech savvy in so many ways, with much more complicated backend building, customized code, fun animations, etc.
